Stanford Reading Obituary

Stanford Lee Reading (Stan), passed away peacefully at the Hospice of Dayton on December 16th, 2020 at the age of 77. He was born February 4th, 1943 in Tacoma Park, Maryland, and was a long time resident of Kettering Ohio.

Stan was married for 57 years to the love of his life, Suzanne Reading. They raised two sons, Michael and Scott Reading who were the light of his life and they miss him dearly and cherish their many adventures together. Stan had a long, joy filled life and loved to do many things including attending his son’s and granddaughter’s countless sporting events, concerts, and dance recitals as well as spending time with his wife Suzie and his family and friends. Stan also enjoyed many activities including boating, camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and skiing in his younger years. He was an avid reader of many books, with his favorites including science fiction and murder mystery. He enjoyed his Saturday morning breakfasts with the ladies from work, and he loved the thrills in life including riding in a slingshot with a friend.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Reading and Naomi Reading-Denlinger, his step-father Carl Denlinger, and his nephew Jesse Whitmer.

Stan is lovingly remembered by, his wife Suzanne Reading, his two sons Michael and Scott Reading, as well as his daughter-in-law Julie Reading. His brother Ron and sister-in-law Heidi Denlinger, and his sister Carla and brother-in-law Ron Szczechowski. His granddaughters Brianna and Emily Reading, who were the great joy in Stan’s life. His brother-in-law Joseph (Chris) Otto, and his sister-in-laws Gloria Otto and Belinda (Rick) Yost. His nieces and nephews, Lori (Scot) Seguin, Brian (Mary) Whitmer, Leslie (John) Wilkinson, Nicole (Ryan) Warner, Nathan (Carrie) Denlinger, Garrett Denlinger, Jennifer Monaghan, Jacob Monaghan, and Samantha Monaghan. His great nieces and nephews, Mitchell Seguin, Zachary Seguin, Ryland Denlinger, Erin Wilkinson, Matilda Whitmer, Myra Denlinger, and Jude Whitmer. Stan will be missed by all friends and family throughout the years.

A memorial service for Stan will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 at David's Cemetery Mausoleum. Stan's family had postponed having a service until now, due to Covid restrictions at the time of his death.
