Ruby Lois Harvey, age 90, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Saturday, May 1, 2021. She was a longtime member of the Kettering Memorial Seventh Day Adventist Church. Ruby was born to the late James (Harve) and Laura Sparks on November 24, 1930 in Elliot county Kentucky. She graduated from Highland Academy in 1948 and went to Madison College located on the same campus as Madison Academy where her son Donald Harvey is now a teacher. She met the late George L. Harvey while attending Madison College where she studied nursing. They were married June 12, 1949, and they were happily married for 58 years. She lived in the Kettering/Dayton Ohio area for the last 57 years where she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Kettering Memorial Hospital for approximately 25 years. Ruby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being a nurse and mother. She was very proud of her sons even if they weren’t always perfect. She lived the last 14 years, since the death of her husband, with her son James and daughter-in-law Eileen. She will be remembered as a simple Kentucky woman who enjoyed her cats, cooking, traveling even though they did little of it, gardening, canning and most of all, her family visits. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband George L. Harvey and brother, Otis P. Sparks. She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Donald and Shirley Harvey and James and Eileen Harvey plus 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 11 at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 1771 E. Dorothy Lane, Kettering. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
