Patricia Lynn Brown, 67, died peacefully at her home in Kettering, Ohio on August 17, 2020. She was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1953. She graduated from Oakwood High School in 1971 and did continuing education at Sinclair College. She worked for many years at Jenks and Myers Law Firm as a legal secretary and skilled paralegal. She also enjoyed tap dancing and volunteering at Hospice of Dayton.
Patty was loved by family, many friends and colleagues for her thoughtfulness, kindness and compassionate listening and honest advice. When she stopped working due to health issues she stayed active in the community and was a great advocate for accessibility for persons with a disability. She learned about this need when her health forced her to accept a change in her lifestyle due to challenges which she took in stride. She lived her life nobly and despite the many challenges which confronted her, she remained independent and proud, creating a full life for herself and her beloved partner of nearly forty years, Ron Mainard. They shared a deep love for dogs and raised many in their time together.
Patty was predeceased by her mother and stepfather, Virginia and Bob Dickensheets, her father Dr. John R. Brown, MD and a nephew Dennis Mainard. She is survived by her partner Ron Mainard; sisters Debbie Dinn (George), Nancy Hein (Dale) and Sandy Shirk (Dennis) and stepbrother Paul Dickensheets (Reyna). She is survived by nieces and nephews, John Dinn (Jennifer), Anna Dinn (Erik), Matthew Hein (Ferrare and daughter Zia), Whitney Hein (Jimmy), Devin Hein (Jaime), Dave Dickensheets and Bobby Dickensheets. She is also survived by Ron’s children Denise Miller (Andrew) and Stephen Mainard (daughter Evangeline), brother Doug Mainard (Kathleen) and his children Courtney and Adam.
Per Patty’s request for safety, there will not be a memorial service. She suggested family and friends could light a candle in her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the MS Society or Hospice of Dayton.
