Kira Amelia McIntosh, 88 of Washington Township, Ohio passed away peacefully from a long term illness on September 1, 2021 under Hospice care. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and living predominantly most of her adult life in Washington Township, Oh. Kira was the second child of Alexander and Sonja Kvasnica and proud graduate from Marquette University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. As a result of years of teaching recertification in Ohio, Kira earned a master’s equivalency and in her 70’s completed an online bachelor’s degree in American history.
During her years at Marquette, she was a member of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority, rode horses, sang in Milwaukee’s Concert Halls, was involved in College Theatre Productions, figure skated, and trained as a nurse to become a flight attendant. She utilized her degree to shift to teaching and taught for over 20 years in Milwaukee Public schools, and in the Dayton area including Centerville, Kettering, Oakwood, and Beavercreek schools. Kira loved to travel and enjoyed going to Scotland twice, as well as traveling to America’s Southwest. From her days in theater performances in Milwaukee to her many years in Ohio, Kira was a great lover of music and sang for many years in her church choir at Saint Charles Borromeo. She was a voracious reader across a wide variety of subjects including Archaeology, history, English Murder Mysteries. Kira fostered a constant sense of family as a reminder of the sacrifices of those before us who made it possible to come to this country. She always instilled the importance of family that we will carry through.
Preceded in death by her parents and her older brother Alex, Kira is survived by her three sons. Phillip (Pamela) McIntosh of Cave Creek, Arizona, David (Valerie) McIntosh of Huntsville, Alabama, and Jon (Mary) McIntosh of Washington Township, Ohio. In addition, Kira is survived by her Grandsons Benjamin McIntosh and Andrew Polk, Granddaughters Katie and Ashley Polk.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 am Saturday, September 11, 2021 at St. Paul The Apostle Orthodox Christian Church, 4451 Wagner Rd with Fr. Gregory Ealy officiating. Burial to follow at David's Cemetery. Kira’s family will receive relatives and friends from 10-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
