Kenneth Roberts Obituary

Kenneth Kelly Roberts, son of James W. & Ruth Kathryn Kelly Roberts, was born June 8, 1948 and was raised in Kitts Hill, Ohio.

After graduation from Rock Hill High School, Ken began a long career working with lumber and in construction.  An excellent carpenter, he was always building, fixing, or renovating something for someone.

He married Shirley Ann Staten and to this union was born two children, Kelly Kathaleen and Kenneth Scott. In 1995, he married Deborah Derksen.

Square Dancing and Calling were two of Ken’s passions.  He loved the relationships he developed with fellow dancers and the healthy exercise it encouraged.  He also loved traveling to new and historical places.  One of Ken’s many talents was singing, and he thrilled to use his voice to sing praises to his Lord.  Ken trusted Jesus to be his personal Savior at the age of 12 or 13, and at the time of his passing was a faithful member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church.  He considered his church family dear to his heart and found in them a loving church home.  His love for Jesus and testimony of kindness leave us an example to follow.

Ken loved all of these things dearly, but there was nothing he loved quite as much as his family.  He is survived by a daughter, Kelly and her husband Donnie; a son, Scott and his partner, Gayle; nine grandchildren Maggie (Jake) Schueler, Caleb (Abby) Ball, Stephen Ball, Benjamin Ball, Jenna (Zach) Danner, Kyla Roberts, Laken Brown, Trevor Ripberger, Taylor Ripberger;  six great-grandchildren, Clark Schueler, Nimai, Zaina, Jaxon and Rylee Danner, and Lincoln Glodrey;  a special friend, Nancy Hendrickson; one sister, Shirley Saunders; many beloved nieces, and nephews; and countless friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Bill and Jim Roberts), one sister (Janet Cade), and his wife, Deborah.

Ken’s life and love have left behind an indelible mark upon all who knew and loved him.  While we certainly grieve our loss, we rejoice in the promise of the glad reunion day in Heaven for all who know the Lord as their Savior.  Family will receive friends from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 3151 Annabelle Drive, Kettering, OH. Funeral service to follow at 12 noon.  Ken will be laid to rest alongside other members of his family at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, Brookville, OH. “In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Ken’s church, Blessed Hope Baptist Church.” Morris Sons Funeral Home, 1771 E.
