James Morris Obituary

Morris, James Robert “Bob”, age 88 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020.  He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy Sarah (Scott) Morris in 1990, a brother Billy in 1966 and his sister Patricia Pain in 2013, and his parents: James E. & Ruth Helen (Ankeney) Morris.  He is survived by 3 sons & their wives: James Scott & Karen Morris, Mark Alan & Kelly Morris and Dale Richard & Lora Morris; grandchildren, Hailey (Eric) Heater, Trevor (Becca), Colin, Eli, Meredith, Isaac, Rahael, Bereket and Ephy, and 1 great grandchild: Ellowyn Joy, 2 nephews and their spouses Steve & Kathy Pain, Ron Pain & Steve Copeland.  Bob graduated from Bath Twp. Exempted High School in 1950, attended the University of Dayton and Miami University Oxford, and graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Service in 1955 as a Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer.  He is the 3rd generation of Morris Sons Funeral Homes where he worked for over 50 years. He was a past member of Mystic Lodge #405 F&A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Antioch Temple Shrine, Centerville Rod & Reel Club, Past President of the East Dayton Optimist Club, Fairborn Rotary Club, TALS Corner Assoc (Third & Linden in Dayton), American Business Men’s Club, Civaton Club, Dayton R.C. Model Boat Club, WORCS – West Ohio Radio Control Society, Past President of East Dayton Kiwanis and past Sec-Treas of the Greater Montgomery County Funeral Directors Assoc., Ohio Funeral Directors Assoc, Downtown Fairborn Business Assoc,, Fairborn & Kettering Oakwood Chamber of Commerce.  Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and loyal friend to all who knew him.  He loved spending time with his family, loved to fish, hunt, play golf, and play cards.  He & Nancy spent many camping vacations with the boys at Rice Lake in Canada, where he loved teaching them how to fish and to love the outdoors. Due to the Covid 19 Virus, the family will be having private services and he will be laid to rest next to his wife Nancy, in Byron Cemetery.
