Edmond Phillips Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Edmond George Phillips announces his passing. He passed
away on January 8 th , 2021, at home in Fairborn, Ohio at the age of 86. He was born in Morenci, Michigan
to parents Edmund and Lucille Phillips.
Ed is survived by his children Glenda Bunn, Charles (Ginger) Phillips, and Phyllis (Timothy) Birt; siblings
Gary (Mary), Kathy (Greg) Donaldson, Harry (Willie) Blakeman; grandchildren Robert (Rachel), Blake
(Shi), Grace (Aaron), Phillip (Jessica), Jonathan (Molly), Kristina, Sam, and Bailey; great-grandchildren
Aurora and Noah, and step grandchildren Amber, Amy, Ellen, Ken. He greets his wife Charlene; parents;
siblings Mildred, Terry, Tom, Duane, and Don; children Mark and Dean; and two of his wife’s siblings in
Heaven.
Ed was raised in Holland, Ohio, meeting and marrying his wife, Charlene. He joined the Air Force in 1955,
where he was a recip and jet engine mechanic. He served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He had
many other TDY assignments, with one lasting a year in Korea, without his family. Ed retired from the Air
Force after 21 years of service. He had a second career at Cedarville University and retired from there
after 21 years.
Ed enjoyed working on his cars, making model airplanes, flying control line model airplanes, and doing
bead work.
Ed enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He and Charlene would host Leaf Nights, Family
Christmas, 4th of July and Father's Day, in addition to many family dinners and get togethers. When
Charlene was diagnosed with cancer in 2010, he took over her care completely.
Funeral services will begin at 11 am on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 104 W.
Main St., Fairborn, Ohio with Pastor Art Beasley officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 am, one hour prior
to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service, in procession, at Byron Cemetery.
