Charles R. Baker, 91, of Fairborn passed away peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2021. Born in Hazard, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Henry and Lucy Miniard Baker. He was retired from Duriron (Flowserve) after 35 years and was a Korean War Veteran serving as a Mechanic, First Calvary Division, in the United States Army.
Charlie is survived by his brother, Delano (Judy) Baker, his two sons Donald (Tammy) Baker of Fairborn, and Darren (Jessica) Baker of Monroe. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Lindsay Baker and Eliana Nicole Baker.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jacqueline; siblings, Kurt Baker, Robert Baker, Joyce Begley, Lorraine Boyer, Carlos Danny Baker; sisters in law, Reva Baker, Patricia Baker; Pearly Baker; brothers in law, Sam Begley, and Roger Boyer.
Charles was an ardent Christian and member of the Church of Christ, Fairborn (Dorothy Ave), where he enjoyed teaching the Bible and leading the congregation in hymns during worship. He loved studying the Bible; his favorite was the Book of Acts.
His hobbies included repairing lawnmowers (or anything with an engine), geography, Bible maps, model airplanes, cowboy shows, soduko puzzles, collecting watches, and football.
He loved pizza, snacks, and candy, but he especially loved Cricket Ferrell’s soup beans, fried potatoes, and corn bread!
Some of the most helpful and caring people in his journey were his brother, Delano, nephew, Danny Begley, great nephew, Wes Begley, the Welborn Family, Jenny, his caregiver from Visiting Angels, Cathy Ferrell, Wilburn Bowling, the Church of Christ members from Fairborn, New Carlisle, Knollwood, Waynesville, and so many others too numerous to mention.
Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, August 18th, 2021, Morris Sons Funeral Home, 104 W. Main Street, Fairborn, OH. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial in Byron Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to morris-sons.com.
