Charlene is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edmond Phillips; children Glenda (Dave) Bunn, Charles (Ginger) Phillips, and Phyllis (Timothy) Birt; brother Harry (Willie) Blakeman; grandchildren Robert (Rachel), Blake (Shi), Grace, Phillip (Jessica), Jonathan, Kristina, Sam, and Bailey; great-grandchildren Aurora and Noah, and step granddaughters Amber, Amy, Ellen, Ken. Charlene was raised in Holland, Ohio, meeting and marrying her husband, Ed. The two traveled around the world together while Ed served in the Air Force and Charlene was a stay at home mother to their three children.
She created a welcoming place for her grandchildren to be together. As a family, they would celebrate Leaf Nights, Cousin Christmases, Family Christmases, Chuck E Cheese Visits before school started, 4th of July, Easter, and Father’s Day. These days were filled with laughter, sleep overs, movies, popcorn, and hot chocolate.
Charlene developed ovarian cancer in 2010, which led to a surgery where they almost lost her twice during surgery. She fought for ten years, meeting her grandson, Robert, his family, Rachel, Aurora, and Noah; her two grandchildren’s spouses, Shi and Jessica; and two of her grandchildren’s future spouses, Molly and Aaron.
