Peter attended Roosevelt High School class of 1940. He retired from the Dayton Post Office as Director of Finance after 30 years of service. He and Vera spent their retirement years traveling around the United States and at their home at Indian Lake where they boated, fished and played cards with their friends. They moved to St. Leonard Retirement Center in July of 2003. They enjoyed the many activities that were available to them. Peter then started the last part of his life doing volunteer work at St. Leonard's, first as an escort for many years. For the last five years he spent four days a week volunteering in the woodshop making wooden cars for the "Toys for God's Kids" project. Peter and his fellow volunteers were the subject of a James Brown, Channel 7, piece on Making a Difference, (which can be found on youtube.com, search Toys for Gods Kids). In a five year period they made 25,000 cars that have been distributed to children all over the world. He was an avid vegetable gardener. He also served as an officer of the American Legion and the Milton Club of Dayton. The family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton and the St. Leonard Foundation.
