Ruth Carnes Obituary

Ruth (Whitt) Carnes, a long-time resident of Beavercreek, Ohio, joined her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, at noon on Wednesday, October 21, 2019.

Born in 1933 in Laurel, Kentucky, Ruth came to Ohio at the age of 17 and quickly made the Dayton area her permanent home. She married the love of her life, Charles Robert Carnes, Jr., in 1958. Ruth gave many dedicated years of service to Wright Patterson Air Force Base early in her life, and many more cherished years to Morris Sons Funeral Home later in life.

From her youth, Ruth was a caretaker of everyone she met. She loved people, and she loved taking care of them. Many beloved family members, neighbors, fellow parishioners, and friends have known Ruth’s loving touch through the years. Selfless in giving, Ruth never tired of doing meaningful things for others, whether that meant cooking, cleaning, or just being around to lend a helping hand or ear. Even until her very last days, Ruth did her best to tend to others who live and work at Trinity Community of Beavercreek.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved Chuck, parents Floyd & Gladys Whitt, brother Rexton Whitt, and dear sister Ruby (Whitt) Ison. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Cherie & Michael Rebar, and granddaughter Gillian Renee, who was the light of Ruth’s life from the moment she was born. She is also survived by loving sisters Reva, Ella Rae, Rosa Lee, and Rita Naomi; dear friends Fred and Marcella Keeton and Jenny Henry; and a host of treasured nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully asks that donations be directed in Ruth’s memory to Hospice of the Miami Valley (HOMV) in Xenia, Ohio (https://hospiceofthemiamivalley.org/foundation/), or Trinity Community of Beavercreek, Ohio (https://www.unitedchurchhomes.org/trinity-at-beavercreek/).
