Nell Diffendal Obituary

Nell Rose Diffendal's homegoing was on Monday, July 8, 2019 from her children's home in Porter, Texas. She was born in1929 in Ironton, Ohio to Charles Donald Willis and Nina Marcella (Messenger) Willis. She was an Ironton High School graduate. She married Emmett McIntyre and they had two children, Charles Steven McIntyre and Mary Beth McIntyre. She lived in Ironton, Ohio until 1971, then moved to Fairborn, Ohio upon her marriage to Oliver J. "Bud" Diffendal. She was a faithful member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Dayton, Ohio from 1971 to 2006, at which time she moved to Porter, Texas to be close to her daughter. She actively served at ALC for many years teaching, participating in bake sales and dinners, making items for church fundraising, encouraging and helping those in need and supporting the Ministry. She and her husband meticulously cleaned the church for years. Of recent years she was a member of Faith Tabernacle in Tomball, Texas where she was well-loved by young and older members alike. Nell Rose was truly a Proverbs 31:10-31 Woman. Anyone who stayed in her home knew she arose early and contentedly went about her household chores, always maintaining a clean home, cooking good meals and baking her renowned pies. She was priceless in the eyes of her children, extended family and close friends. She was a virtuous example who raised her children to love and serve their Savior. She honored her husband and selflessly took care of him the last several years of his life. She faithfully read her Bible– in fact, she slept with it, reading it each night up until her journey's end. Appropriately, in her hands you now see a Bible given to her by her son, Steve. She was strong, wise and kind in word and deed. She always had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh. Nell Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Diffendal; father, Charles Donald Willis; mother and stepfather, Nina and Edward Haas; sister, Mary Edna (Glen) Jones; brother, Charles David (Ann) Willis. She is survived by her son, Steve (Ruth) McIntyre of Harrison, Ohio; daughter, Beth (Steven) Phillips of Porter, Texas; stepsons, James (Beatrice) Diffendal of Fairborn, Ohio, Ernest (Darline) Diffendal of Brighton, Colorado, John Diffendal of Wakefield Kansas; stepdaughters, Janece (Larry) Shivers of Wakefield, Kansas, Lori Sussbauer of Livermore, Colorado; 6 grandchildren and 9 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 15 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and a celebration of life service to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Apostolic Lighthouse Church of Dayton, 2221 Harshman Rd., Dayton, Ohio.
