George Robert Anthony Walko (Geo, Bob)

George R. Walko, 76, died peacefully on October 6th, 2019, at Hospice of Dayton.  He was born in 1942, in Carteret, NJ, the son of George and Margaret Walko.

George graduated from Carteret High School.  Following graduation, he entered the armed forces in the branch of Air Force.  George served 20+ years in the Air Force and retired as a Master Sargent.  After a full career George then worked in civil service in Springfield. 

George married his wife Ruth in Germany in 1963.  They had their 3 sons in Germany before moving back to the states.  They then later had their daughter in Fairborn, Ohio and spent the remainder of their lives living there.  George was an avid fishermen and gardener.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors. He enjoyed the simpler way of life, and his family was everything to him.

George is preceded in death by his parents George and Margaret (Lesifko) and his wife Ruth.

George is survived by his 3 sisters, Dolores Pirnik, Joan O’neill and Jean Toner; his 4 children, Richard Walko, Robert Walko (Wife Amy), Ronald Walko (Wife Mary) and Rachael Carter (Husband Justin); his 8 granddaughters, Kerri Becker (Husband Mark), Madison Walko, Bailey Walko, Sydney Walko, Jaylen Carter, Jillian Carter, Madelyn Carter, and Evelyn Carter.

A private celebration of life will be held by Georges family and friends.  Those who choose to remember George in a special way are asked to make a donation to Hospice of Dayton.
