Dorothy Ridgway (Schwab) Weitthoff of Kettering, Ohio, passed the morning of October 31, 2019. She was born in Philadelphia in 1928. She was much loved by her family and always returned their love.
She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Weitthoff, her parents, Walter and Edith (Apple) Schwab and brother, Walter Schwab. She is now reunited with them in heaven.
Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother often said "Family is Everything".
She loved our family. She loved us in our homes, she loved us in Ocean City, she loved us on the phone or in person. She loved us in success or failure. She loved us on holidays or just for quick visits. She loved us in Kettering, Westerville and Bellvue. (and Cincinnati, Pickerington, Columbus, Denver and Fort Collins). She will be remembered for smiles and her heart by her three children and their families and her many friends. Children - Jim (Cheryl), Steve (Teresa), Janice (Tom Sale); grandchildren, Kelley (Brian Paul), Tracy (Jeff Gilkey), Jessica (Mary Kivel) and Megan Weitthoff, Travis (Tara) Weitthoff, Jennifer Sale (Hal Hlavinka) and Clay Sale; Great grandchildren, Cade, Ella, Zeke Paul , Rebecca Gilkey, Lyla and Brooks Weitthoff.
Dorothy was an avid bridge player, a golfer, a bowler and loved all games. She was a whiz at croquet and a wicked ping pong player. She maintained close friendships with her classmates from Friends' Central (K-12), in Wynnewood, PA, and also was close with her very dear friends from her home in Upper Darby, PA. In high school, she excelled in basketball, field hockey, and lacrosse. Gamma Phi Beta was part of her family. Dorothy was a life long member of Gamma Phi Beta, the Ohio Wesleyan chapter.
The family will receive friends at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 1771 E. Dorothy Lane, Kettering, on Tuesday, November 5 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow immediately at David's Cemetery in Kettering, OH.
