Barbara E. (Carpenter) Shepherd

Shepherd, Barbara E. age 62 of Dayton, died Friday, December 7, 2018 at Kettering Medical Center.  She is preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2003, her son: Brock Wogoman in 1998, parents: Estill & Eldora (Johnson) Carpenter; mother & father-in-law: Mary & Joseph Shepherd, aunt: Hazel Sturgeon, brothers & sisters: Estill “Buddy”, Roger, Chester, Suzy & Patricia Carpenter. Her parents died when she was very young, so her cousin Thelma Hook & her husband Russell (retired Captain with Dayton Fire Dept), became her adopted parents.  She is survived by her son: Roger Shepherd and his fiancé’ & very special friend to Barbara, Melissa Lane.  3 grandchildren:  Brocklyn Shepherd & her son Brentlee Springer, Brock Shepherd & Baylin Shepherd, and their mother Amber Todd Shepherd who held a very special place in Barbara’s heart.  A very special friend: “Buddy” the cat and numerous other family members and friends.  Barbara was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2800 in Dayton, member of Ohmer Park United Methodist Church, she loved spending time with her family, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, reading the morning paper, watching old westerns on tv, and especially sitting on her front porch, visiting with her neighbors and friends.  Barbara will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  Family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, December 13, at Morris Sons Funeral Home 1771 E. Dorothy Lane, Kettering OH.  Service to follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Feverston officiating.  Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery in Brookville.  Memorial condolences may be sent to www.morris-sons. com.
