Family Owned vs. Chain

Is there any difference between a family owned funeral home, and a funeral home that is part of a corporate-owned chain?

The Morris Family is the oldest established family owned funeral home in the Miami Valley area. We opened our first funeral home in 1886 in Bellbrook , Ohio and we now have two locations in the Miami Valley Area. When you call us you are intrusting your loved one with one of our family members who not only own, but actually work at our funeral homes. You do not get just an employee of a large chain managed out of state or out of the country.

Over the past several years, large multi-national organizations have been purchasing funeral homes at an alarming rate. The early nineties saw hundreds of family operated funerals homes across North America brought into the fold of large multi-national firms. The funeral profession has a long, proud history of personal service provided by generations of local families with deep roots in their community. Today there are many funeral service providers to choose from. What you may not know is that not all funeral homes are owned by local families. While they may have been operating in your community for years, and their names have not changed, some funeral homes have sold out to national and even international conglomerates. These funeral service conglomerates keep the original family name on their businesses because they know that at our greatest time of need you are more likely to turn to a local family you feel you can trust than to a national chain you know nothing about. They are large corporations that are publicly traded on the stock exchange. This makes them responsible to their stockholders and board of directors to continually grow profits year after year. As a result you end up paying more money and receive less value for your funeral service.

Are Morris Sons Funeral Homes independently owned or are they operated by a large chain or corporation?

Morris Sons Funeral Homes are locally owned by the Morris Family and independently operated. They
are not operated by a large public corporation.

Why are family-owned funeral homes the right choice?

Morris Sons  Funeral Homes are family owned and have a single focus; providing the best quality service
and value to our families and friends. We are not governed by corporate mandates or driven to increase
profits. We know that our success depends upon how we treat each and every family we serve. It is
our goal at Morris Sons Funeral Homes not only to satisfy your needs but to exceed your expectations.
